The Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program at TLSC Tumbi Umbi Campus has six AVID classes, two for each year from Year 8 to 10.
Students are nominated and participate in application and interview processes during Year 7 to gain admission into the AVID program commencing at the start of Year 8. Students are placed into an AVID class for all subjects for the duration of Year 8, before continuing with the program in Years 9 and 10 as a part of their elective subject selections.
As a part of the AVID program, students have the opportunity to participate in weekly tutorials, attend excursions to local universities, listen to guest speakers from a range of different career pathways and develop sound academic support skills to enhance their learning and academic achievement.
