TLSC Tumbi Umbi Campus works collaboratively with its partner schools of Bateau Bay Public School, Brooke Avenue Public School, The Entrance Public School, and Wamberal Public School.
Together all five schools conduct a strong, successful and highly regarded transition to secondary school program for students, staff, and parents which ensures continuity of teaching and learning across the middle years.
Elements of the transition program include, but are not limited to:
- regular school visits
- shared decision making on class placements
- joint planning and programming based on analysis of students' needs and development
- cultural visits
- sporting activities
- student leadership activities
- wellbeing programs
- full involvement of parents/carers
- Gifted and Talented students (GATS) workshops
- taster lessons
- Gala Days.
All aspects of the transition program and process are evaluated annually to ensure that the program stays responsive to student, parent/carer and staff needs.
The transition program is only one way that these five schools work closely with each other. Other examples of the strength of our working relationships include the joint implementation of Gifted and Talented programs, collaboratively designed professional learning, shared and common practices in writing, numeracy, and student wellbeing programs and collective analysis of student achievement across the middle years.
