Gifted and Talented program

Tumbi Umbi Campus has the following question at the centre of all its curriculum decisions – How is this child smart? This is a big move away from the question many parents were asked as students - How smart is this child?

Gifted students are those whose potential is distinctly above average in one or more of the following areas of ability at school - intellectual, creative, social and physical. Our Gifted and Talented (GAT) programs provide these students with learning opportunities on top of the usual curriculum. Identification of students occurs at enrolment and through campus programs. Parents/carers, students and staff are part of the identification process.

Our GAT programs and classes provide an opportunity for students: to explore more abstract, complex and in-depth content; to work with their intellectual and like-minded peers; to function independently at their academic potential and pace and to be enriched in their area of expertise and interest. Please look through this website to see the array of opportunities available for students so they can explore the question How am I smart? or contact the principal on 02 4385 6802, or via email on tumbiumbi.h-school@det.nsw.edu.au.
