Mobile phones, iPods and other personal electronic equipment are not required equipment for any lesson conducted at this campus.
The principal has directed that equipment being wrongly used on the campus both in lessons and the playground is to be confiscated and brought to the administration office for safe storage until the equipment can be returned to the owner or parent/carer.
Tumbi Umbi Campus has not taken the position of banning this equipment but does have very clear firm expectations on the use and security of personal electronic equipment. Those expectations include but are not limited to:
- the campus accepts no responsibility for the security or safety of personal electronic equipment at any time
- responsible use of equipment – if students choose to use their personal electronic equipment responsibly, not interrupting lessons, their learning or causing concern to others then there is no reason for any further action to occur
- irresponsible use of equipment – this will lead to confiscation of equipment and parents/carers called to collect the equipment from the principal or deputy principals
- students are not to use personal electronic equipment during lessons unless directly instructed to do so by their teacher
