Our campus and the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program have partnerships with local universities to help students that are involved in the AVID program in achieving their aspirations post-school.
Partnerships exist between the campus and Newcastle, Macquarie and Victoria Universities. These partnerships are designed to support AVID students in their university aspirations post-high school.
TLSC Tumbi Umbi Campus recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the University of Newcastle which links the college to the university through the AVID program. This will provide AVID students to opportunity to participate in tutorials with undergraduates from various different degrees, listen to guest speakers and alumni from the university as they outline their career paths and link the university with graduates from the AVID program at the completion of Year 12.
Students from the AVID program attend excursions to Newcastle and Macquarie Universities and have the opportunity to see first hand what life as a university student on campus is like.
Students also have the opportunity to attend Victoria University and participate in an AVID student forum where they discuss contemporary issues in the local and global community and discuss aspects of the program with other AVID students from across Australia.
