TLSC Tumbi Umbi Campus works tirelessly with parents/carers, students and staff to support our great students to be the best they can be, by increasing their independence in learning and continuing to lift their personal achievement.
We saw an opportunity to build on our parental and student support for our motto - 'standing tall' and our four values of respect, responsibility, integrity, and fairness, by increasing the frequency of formal feedback parents/carers and students receive around these values.
The feedback program we have introduced is called 'standing taller', based on a scale of 1 to 6 (top score) on how well our students are achieving independence in their learning. Standing taller reports are posted to parents/carers twice every term, meaning parents/carers receive eight reports per year informing them of their child's readiness to learn. Academic progress reports are posted at the end of Terms 2 and 4.
Parents/carers and students receive feedback on how independent they are in accepting responsibility for achieving personal best in every subject in the following skills and habits essential for future success in study and employment:
- having an excellent attendance record (respect and responsibility)
- explaining absences promptly (respect and responsibility)
- proudly wearing campus uniform (respect and responsibility)
- being punctual every day to the campus and every lesson (respect)
- being prepared to learn with all equipment (responsibility)
- completing classwork to personal best (integrity)
- working with other students to support every student's achievement (integrity and fairness)
- having respectful relationships with peers and staff (respect, responsibility, integrity, and fairness).
