The following expectations are held for every AVID student:
- take Cornell Notes (students will learn this system) in every class
- be positive, encouraging and supportive of their classmates
- act as a role model in behavior for peers
- understand and demonstrate the importance of learning, and of achieving academic success
- demonstrate a commitment to themselves, and to their studies
- learn by asking questions (inquiry), rather than having answers provided for them
- always do their best
- improve upon current grades and/or maintain at least a C grade
- maintain an AVID binder with Cornell Notes
- use and maintain an AVID diary, ensuring it is at school every day, and entries are made daily
- prepare and participate in the weekly tutorials, with a completed Tutorial Request Form (TRF) for each tutorial session
- participate in extra-curricular activities whenever possible
- maintain regular attendance at school
- complete required homework and assessment tasks on time
- arrive at the campus 'prepared to learn'.
